Sea Talk: Turtle Conservation Expedition, Feb. 26
By Maui Now Staff
A complimentary Sea Talk takes place tonight, Thursday, Feb. 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Maui Ocean Center in Māʻalaea.
The talk entitled, “Hawaiʻi Wildlife Fund’s Sea Turtle Conservation Expedition to Micronesia,” will be led by Hawaiʻi Wildlife Fund president and co-founder Hannah Bernard.
In 2014, HWF and Bluecology joined forces to offer eco-tour expeditions in Micronesia that promote community efforts to sustain and enhance their traditional lifestyle.
The expeditions also served to provide a world model for sea turtle conservation, employing contemporary innovations such as solar power.
HWF will host a two-part trip to Palau and Micronesia this spring in an effort to support the ongoing exchange of ideas and to promote a sustainable way of life between these independent nations and world travelers.
Admission to the sea talk is complimentary, but seating is limited. Reservations are recommended by calling (808) 270-7088.
