A Small Craft Advisory is posted for the Pailolo and ʻAlenuihāhā channels through 4:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
**Click directly on the images below to make them larger. Charts include: Maui County projected winds, forecasted swell direction, height & period, tides, a surface map and expected wave heights.**
North: Chest to head high waves are expected, up to overhead at the best breaks on the sets early in the day.
West: Pretty flat conditions are expected today. Exposures catching the west-northwest or south-southwest could see knee to thigh high waves.
South: Knee to waist high waves are expected today with the best breaks a bit bigger on the sets.
Our current west-northwest is slowly fading through the end of the work week. Short-period northwest shifting swell brings a reinforcement Friday afternoon, holding through Saturday and fading Sunday.
A northwest swell is expected for first few days of March. Will keep an eye on it.
Our current south swell is expected to slowly fade through the weekend. Another round is expected for the first week of March.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
