Maui Farm Sanctuary Gets National Exposure on Reality TV
By Wendy Osher
National Geographic’s new reality show, Aloha Vet, will feature Maui’s Leilani Farm Sanctuary in it’s premier, set to air this Saturday, March 21, according to farm founder Laurelee Blanchard.
Blanchard says the feature includes eye surgery on a blind pig, the spaying of a deer, mastitis treatment of a goat, and treatment of an eye injury on a rooster.
The Sanctuary will also be featured in two other episodes besides the premier.
Blanchard says Aloha Vet is a takeoff on the British series All Creatures Great and Small, which she said dramatized life at a country veterinary clinic.
Owners of Leilani Farm Sanctuary say they hope the animal rights movement and compassion for animals will be strengthened as a result of the national television exposure.
The first episode is scheduled to air on March 21, 2015 at 6 p.m. HST (9 p.m. ET), on Nat Geo WILD, according to Blanchard. Leilani Farm Sanctuary will appear in episodes 1, 2, and 6.
