Free Spay/Neuter Clinics Offered by Maui Humane Society

The Maui Humane Society will be offering free spay/neuter/zeuter clinics for dogs in April as part of an aggressive stance to combat pet overpopulation.

The “M*A*S*H” clinics, short for “Mobile Animal Surgical Hospital” will be offered on the following dates and locations:

• Tuesday, April 21: Maui Humane Society
• Wednesday, April 22: Maui Humane Society
• Friday, April 24: Kulamalu parking lot in Pukalani
• Saturday, April 25: Lahaina Cannery Mall

Morning and afternoon appointments are available.

“The goal is to sterilize 100 dogs per day, for a total of 400 sterilizations over the four day period,” said Maui Humane Society representatives in an organization press release.

Maui Humane Society is working in conjunction with Animal Balance, which organizes veterinarians and vet techs from across the nation who volunteer their time to perform these “M*A*S*H” style sterilization clinics.

In addition to the free surgery (or Zeuter, which is chemical castration for male dogs), customers will also receive a free microchip, vaccine and county license.

Maui Humane Society representatives say the value of these services alone can range anywhere from $300 to over $800, depending on size and other factors.

A separate “M*A*S*H” style cat clinic will be held in June.
