A 34-year-old woman was medevaced from East Maui on Monday after sustaining head injuries in a fall near Hāna Bay.
Fire officials say the woman was conscious and was flown to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in stable condition.
According to department reports, the woman was hiking with two other friends on a trail leading to the Hāna Lighthouse, when she slipped and fell about 15 feet onto rocks at the water’s edge.
The incident was reported at 12:26 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015.
Maui Fire Captain Edward Taomoto said the woman was treated at the scene by paramedics, and then taken to the Hāna Ball park where a medevac helicopter transported her to the hospital.
Authorities say the group was from out-of-state, but are living on Maui temporarily for work.
