Wind Advisory Dropped but Winds Still Breezy Today

A High Surf Advisory is posted for east facing shores of Maui and Moloka’i through 6:00 p.m. Thursday. Surf is expected to reach 5 to 8 foot faces. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
A Small Craft Advisory is posted for all Maui County waters through 6:00 p.m. Thursday. East winds up to 30 knots are forecasted along with rough seas of 9 to 13 feet. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Partly cloudy skies are forecasted today with scattered showers. Winds are expected out of the east from 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts. High temperatures from 80° to 86° near shore and lower high temperatures at higher elevations (see graphic above).

Mostly cloudy in windward and mauka spots with showers likely overnight. Partly cloudy for leeward areas with scattered showers. Low temperatures from 68° to 74°. East winds from 15 to 25 mph.
Looking Ahead
Trades are expected to ease slightly Thursday and Friday, then decrease further to more moderate levels over the weekend. Clouds and showers will be focused over windward and mauka areas, with the gusty winds pushing some showers leeward of the smaller islands as well for the next couple days.
