Excavator Brings Down Central Maui Lines, Knocks Out Power to 65

An estimated 65 commercial customers lost power in Central Maui on Monday, June 15, 2015 when an excavator brought down electrical lines on Kamaʻāina Street, representatives with Maui Electric Company said.

The incident was reported at 6 a.m., and affected customers in the areas of Puʻunēnē on Mokulele Highway. Power was restored to 59 customers at 6:50 a.m. with remaining customers being brought back online at 10:50 a.m., said Maui Electric spokesperson Kauʻi Awai-Dickson.
