Maui’s Gas Prices Same as Last Week; Decline Elsewhere

Hawai‘i residents and summer travelers elsewhere have enjoyed a decline in average gas prices in most areas around the islands this past week.
The current state average for a gallon of regular is $3.35, down two cents from last week, four cents more than last month and 98 cents a gallon lower than a year ago.
In Hilo, the average gas price is $3.31 per gallon, three cents less than last week, six cents more than last month and 82 cents less than this time a year ago.
Honolulu’s average gas price declined by two cents to $3.28 over the past week, and is four cents lower than a month ago and $1.03 less than this time last year.
“Nationwide, only seven states are reporting average retail gas prices above $3 a gallon,” said AAA Hawai‘i General Manager Liane Sumida. “Retail gas prices continue to remain at the most affordable levels in about seven years which is good news for locals and visitors alike.”
