A California man was found guilty by a federal grand jury of attempted methamphetamine trafficking on the island of Kauaʻi.

Roman Gabriel Contreras, 44, of Ontario, Calif., was found guilty of possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine on March 24, 2015.

Officials with the US Justice Department say evidence presented at trial found that Contreras, under a false name, flew to Līhue from LAX with three plastic containers which held almost three pounds of pure meth.
