Ige Appoints Mizumoto to Board of Education Chairmanship

Governor David Ige today announced the appointment of Lance Mizumoto to the position of Chair of the Board of Education effective immediately.
“Lance is committed to creating a better future for Hawaiʻi’s students. He believes that focusing on students and empowering principals, teachers and staff is the best path to success in our public education system. He is committed to school-based decision making. Lance will be a collaborative leader, one not afraid to tackle the tough issues that get in the way of student achievement,” said Gov. Ige in a press release statement.
“I appreciate the confidence and support of Governor Ige,” Mizumoto commented in the announcement. “I look forward to working with my fellow board members and continuing the efforts to improve public education in Hawaiʻi.”
Mizumoto is the President and Chief Banking Officer of Central Pacific Bank where he oversees the organization-wide strategic direction and management of all lines of business, including commercial banking, commercial real estate, retail banking, residential mortgage, and wealth management.
He has a total of 25 years of experience with financial institutions in the state. Mizumoto previously served in various capacities at Central Pacific Bank, First Hawaiian Bank, Bank of Hawaiʻi and International Savings and Loan.
He also serves on the Chamber of Commerce Board and is a member of the Board of Regents for Chaminade University.
