Maui residents and visitors will have the opportunity to learn about how to get started on living a healthy lifestyle at the 18th Annual First Hawaiian Bank Maui PrimeTime Wellness Fair on Tuesday, July 28, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The opening ceremony begins at 8:15 a.m.; the event will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Admission is free and open to the public.

First Hawaiian Bank sponsors this annual event as a community service for Maui residents and visitors.

There will be 45 exhibitor booths providing the latest information to help attendees make informed choices about a healthy lifestyle. There are new vendors offering information on captioned telephone service for the hearing-impaired, ADA-compliant vehicles and adaptive driving equipment.

There will also be free glucose and cholesterol and blood pressure screenings.  For the most accurate readings, eight to 12 hours of fasting is recommended prior to screening.

Paula Keele from the Maui County Office of Aging will demonstrate the department’s Enhanced Fitness exercise, a low-cost, highly adaptable program designed especially for older adults of all ability levels. The one-hour classes include stretching, strengthening exercises and low-impact aerobics to increase flexibility and balance.

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs will present tips for seniors on fraud prevention at the main stage.  Access Information Management is also offering free confidential document shredding (up to two bankers boxes per person).

Attendees will enjoy door prizes and games throughout the fair, as well as live entertainment, including senior ‘ukulele group Pennies from Heaven and the Kaunoa Southside Kupuna Hula Group.

There will be two grand prize drawings this year—a $200 Walgreens gift card and a $200 Mid Pac Petroleum/76 Hawai‘i gift card.
