No Tsunami Threat to Hawaiʻi After 7.5 Solomon Islands Quake

There is no tsunami threat to Hawaiʻi after a preliminary magnitude 7.5 earthquake reported at 4:28 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015 in the Santa Cruz Islands region, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
The USGS reports that the quake was centered 47 miles WNW of Lata in the Solomon Islands and: 365 miles E of Honiara, Solomon Islands; 375 miles NNW of Luganville, Vanuatu; 544 miles NNW of Port-Vila, Vanuatu; and 722 miles ESE of Arawa, Papua New Guinea.
