Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Certification

The Minority Business Development Center of Honolulu at UH-Mānoa, the state Department of Transportation and US Small Business Administration will hold a workshop for small businesses on Sept. 17 at Maui Beach Hotel’s Maui Room.
The free workshop is intended for small business owners interested in Disadvantaged Business Enterprise certification, SBA’s 8(a) Program and contracting resources.
It is open to contractors, subcontractors, consultants, truckers, suppliers and manufacturers.
How to be DBE/SBA-certified and what you need to know about becoming a Federal Contractor is scheduled from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The DBE Final Rule Overview is scheduled for 2:30 to 3 p.m.
The afternoon session is designed to provide information about the DBE Final Rule and changes in the program, including new contractor requirements and clarification on good faith efforts and Commercially Useful Function (CUF).
