Cameron “Cami” Delatori Brown was named the 2015 Baby of the Year at the contest held Saturday at the 93rd Maui Fair. She is the daughter of Aulani Kuulei Delatori and Dustin Brown of Kahului, Maui.
As the newly crowned Baby of the Year, Cameron won a weekend getaway to the Westin Kāʻanapali Ocean Resort Villas. The five highest-scoring babies also were awarded a variety of prizes from the Maui Fair and its many sponsors; and all contestants received a goodie bag for their participation.
The keiki were judged on physical appearance, healthiness and personality, with each category scored on a 50-point scale.
Other keiki who placed in the contest included:
- 1st Runner Up: Matson Kahelemeakua Kahae. Parents: Moses and Rayven Kahae of Wailuku.
- 2nd Runner Up: Kaiheokekoa Nawaiohua Hewahewa. Parent: Kahaku Ritte Camara of Wailuku.
- 3rd Runner Up: Nyah Kapilimau Sumida. Parents: Jeris and Maile Sumida of Wailuku.
- 4th Runner Up: Denver Sanchez (Ethan). Parents: Jaysen and Ashlee Sanchez of Pukalani.
Last year’s winner, Wehiwa Kamaka joined Cameron on stage to pass the crown to this year’s winner.
In her on stage introduction, host Alakaʻi Paleka of KPOA 93.5 FM said Cameron loves to eat pizza, noodles, candy and seedless li hing mui. She loves to dance hula with her mother, and sing her favorite songs like “Let it Go” from Frozen, and “Watch me Whip, Watch me Nae Nae” and “Chandelier,” said Paleka.
Cameron is described by her parents as, “a bright-eyed, outgoing, friendly little lady. She has a personality that is larger than life. Her smile is so infectious, you cannot help but smile. She loves people and loves to make them laugh. She can light up any room when she walks into it and always leave you with a “shaka bu” or a kiss good bye,” her parents wrote.
