Seabury Hall Golf Tournament Raises $114K

The Seabury Hall 21st Annual Benefit Golf Tournament fundraiser generated a record breaking $114,000.

Event proceeds will be invested in the keiki of Maui in the form of financial aid for incoming students, scholarships for the Rising Seniors program, and support for the school’s athletics program.

Each year the Seabury Hall Alumni Association allocates a portion of the event proceeds to the Rising Senior Scholarships.

The purpose of the scholarship is to acknowledge, encourage and reward current 11th grade students who have demonstrated leadership, fulfilled their academic potential, and served their community during their high school career.

In a speech of gratitude at the awards luncheon, Seabury Hall Senior, Emma Pilotin, who is also a Rising Senior Scholarship recipient said, “I now realize that we, my peers and I on Maui, are not alone in this world, and that everyone around us hopes to see us succeed.”

Fellow scholarship recipient and event volunteer, Lilia Maeda, thanked event sponsors and Seabury Hall alumni saying,  “I am so moved by the large network of support from the Seabury Hall Alumni and the entire community of Maui.”

This year’s tournament was held on Saturday, September 12th, at the Wailea Blue Golf Course and attracted a total of 136 players.

The tournament was presented by Browning, and coordinated by Seabury Hall’s Alumni Association.

Event Chair, Kaimanamalie Lee Brummel commented saying, “the success of this event is the perfect example of community and corporations coming together to invest in the future of Maui. In addition to the Seabury Hall staff and families who volunteered at the event, we would like to express our thanks to the event’s 47 Sponsors, 38 Prize Donors, and 21 Alumni participants who made it all possible.”

Tournament participants were treated to a breakfast sponsored by Rising Sun Solar & Electric and an Awards luncheon at Manoli’s that was sponsored by the “Lunch Bunch,” a group of longtime Seabury Hall supporters, and Aaron Placourakis of TriStar Restaurants.

Tournament Results:

• The Male and Female winners of the Longest Drive contest, on Hole #9 of the newly configured Wailea Blue Golf Course, were Rick Tramontin with a drive of 460 yards, and Desiree Ting with a drive of 385 yards.  Both received a custom driver by TaylorMade.
• The winner of the Closest to the Pin on Hole #7 was Helen Giran who was just 5’ 9” from the hole, winning a sunset sail for two on Trilogy Excursions.
• The winner of the Bull’s Eye on Hole #13 was Kimberly Thayer.
• Division Winners in the Kane division, and winning first place over all, were Leo Arensberg and L. J. Arensberg of Tri-Isle.
• Winning the Parent & Child division was father-son team, Mark and Cory Nigbur, who also placed second overall.
• In the Wahine division, first place went to First Hawaiian Bank’s, Helen Giran and Kanako Tamaki, followed by Tiffany & Co.’s Yoshiko Rawson and Jami Ulrich, and third place went Victoria Caputo and Elaine Gallant Wiess.
• Winners in the Century division were Mike Morris and Alan Battersby who golfed on the Colliers International’s team.
• In the Golden Eagle division, another First Hawaiian Bank team, Rudy Balinbin and Jerry Misaki placed 1st.
• In the Spartan division, (a division that requires a Seabury Hall Alum), Sharon Suzuki and Ryan Chang placed 1st.
• In the Co-ed division, husband wife team, Ryan and Jennifer McNally placed 1st.

Each division prize winner received Hotel stay at Andaz Maui, The Grand Wailea, Hotel Wailea, Ihilani, Hyatt Regency Maui, Kāʻanapali Beach Hotel, Mākena Beach and Golf Resort and Pāʻia Inn.
