A 60-year-old man visiting from East Bonney Lake, Washington, was pulled from the ocean in Kāʻanapali on Friday afternoon.

The incident was reported at 4:33 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, in the beach area fronting the Sheraton Maui Resort.

Firefighters arrived on scene at 4:39 p.m. to find to bystanders performing CPR on the man.

Officials say beach goers pulled the man ashore after finding him unresponsive in the water about 75 feet from shore.

Emergency responders reportedly continued life-saving measures.

Paramedics then transported the man to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition.
