Maui Crime, Nov. 8–14: Burglaries, Break-Ins, Thefts

UPDATE/RECOVERED: Thanks to those who helped with tips on this stolen vehicle. The owner reports that an anonymous tip helped in the recovery of the Jeep, which was found buried in trees near Kapalua. The good news – there was no major damage and nothing was missing. Original Post: This white 1991 Jeep MPVH with 37-inch tires, a stinger on the front and a blue roll cage, license # LCL997, was last seen on Monday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. In the parking lot of the International Colony Club in Kapalua. If you see this vehicle, get out of the way. Do not approach, attempt to follow or take other actions that could put you in danger. Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of this jeep or any stolen vehicle should call 9-1-1.

The total number of burglaries, vehicle break-ins/thefts and vehicle thefts reported this week was 66; three less than reported during the previous week.

The total number of burglaries is 20, three less than reported the previous week.

The total number of vehicle break-ins reported this week is 34, five more than the previous week.

The total number of vehicle thefts is 12, five less than reported last week.

CRIME HOT SPOTS

The hot spot for burglaries this week was Kahului, with six reported, followed by Wailuku with three reported.

Wailea was the vehicle break-in/theft hot spot with seven incidents, followed by Kahului, with six incidents reported during this period.

Kīhei was the hot spots for vehicle thefts with three reported.
