Lahaina 7th “Best Ranked City to Stay” in 2016

Three Hawaiʻi locations were included in a top 50 list of “America’s Best Ranked Cities to Stay” in 2016, according to a list compiled by trivago.com, which touts itself as the world’s largest hotel search website.

The 2016 US Best Ranked Cities to Stay list includes: #4 Volcano, Hawaiʻi; #7 Lahaina, Maui; and #34 Kīhei, Maui. In addition, Hawaiʻi raked #5 on the site’s 2016 US Best Ranked States for Hotels, behind #1 New Hampshire, #2 Maine, #3 Massachusetts and #4 Illinois.

According to the site, the most popular cities for American trivago.com users in 2015 included what it called “the usual suspects,” Las Vegas (1), New York (2), Orlando (3), Chicago (4), and Anaheim (5).

According to the company announcement, the site used trivago’s “proprietary data” to find out which cities and states have the best hotels in America for its 2016 rankings.

Each year, the site analyzes the quality of accommodations offered in cities and states across the US.  The scores and ranking are based on a combination of trivago’s rating Index and verified user reviews aggregated from 31 different booking sites.

The ranking also take into account only those cities with at least 50 hotel properties listed on trivago and a minimum average of 140 user reviews.
