The Maui Tomorrow Foundation announced return of attorney Anthony L. Ranken to its Board of Directors.

Ranken has served as an attorney on Maui for more than 30 years, and is credited with founding Maui Tomorrow with Dr. Rick Sands and current Executive Director Albert Perez in 1990.

Maui Tomorrow was an outgrowth of the organization State Park at Mākena, or SPAM, which was also led by Sands and Ranken.

Foundation representatives say the SPAM group is credited with organizing an effort to preserve Mākena’s Oneloa “Big Beach” in the 1980s.

Ranken served as a board member of Maui Tomorrow from 1990 to 2004, and previously held the offices of President and Secretary/Treasurer.

The Maui Tomorrow Foundation is an environmental advocacy organization serving as a watchdog for enforcement of Hawaiʻi’s environmental and land use laws.
