Suspect Sought in Theft of Mercedes from Wailea Valet

The Maui Police Department has initiated an investigation into a stolen SUV that was released by valet attendants to an unauthorized driver at a hotel in Wailea.

The vehicle, a white Mercedes SUV GLK450, license plate LEP-869, was released to the suspect without requiring a valet ticket, according to Crime Stoppers.

Authorities say the suspect, described as a Caucasian male, believed to be about 5’ 6” – 5’ 7”, between 140 to 150 pounds and approximately 35-40 years old, used a guest name and called for the vehicle parked at valet.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 4:45 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 1, 2016.

Maui Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of people responsible for felony crimes; the recovery of stolen property or seizure of illegal drugs in felony cases; or the capture of felony fugitives.
