Suspect Tazed in Confrontation Fronting the Wailuku Police Station
Maui police have launched a terroristic threatening case involving a confrontation with a male suspect fronting the Wailuku Police Station on Thursday morning, Feb. 11, 2016.
Police say the incident was reported at around 8:10 a.m. when the 17-year-old male suspect from Waiheʻe was stalled in front of the station in Wailuku.
According to police reports, officers attempted to speak with the suspect; however, they say he did not listen to officers’ commands.
Police say the suspect was “acting erratically,” and allegedly reached for an object from within his vehicle.
According to police reports, the suspect began to run away as officers approached. He was tazed and placed under arrest for the following charges:
First Degree Terroristic Threatening
Assault Against A Police Officer II
Disorderly Conduct
Driving Without A Valid Drivers License
The suspect was treated and released at the scene by medic personnel for non-life threatening injuries.
The juvenile suspect was later released to the custody of the Sheriff’s office and the case has been forwarded to the Prosecutor’s office for review.
