Dr. Teri Jackson, ND, has joined the wellness team at Wailea Pharmacy in Wailea Gateway Center as it expands on-site services to include practitioner-based medicine.

Dr. Jackson is a naturopathic physician licensed to practice medicine in the state of Hawai‘i. She received her doctorate degree from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington, where she previously maintained a private practice before relocating to Maui in 2013.

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of holistic, primary healthcare. It’s focus is treating “the whole person” by addressing the root causes of illness, rather than just suppressing troublesome symptoms, said a Wailea Pharmacy press release .

Therapeutic modalities such as herbs, homeopathic remedies, nutritional supplements, individualized diets, bodywork and pharmaceutical medications are utilized to promote, physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual well-being, the release continued.

Dr. Jackson is able to order both conventional and alternative labs tests to ensure the most accurate diagnosis possible during the initial consultation, and will also interpret lab results ordered by other practitioners.

Depending on the condition, she will assess lifestyle, environmental exposures, possible infections and genetic susceptibility to illness to create a treatment plan specific to the individual patient to support his or her unique needs.

Although she is qualified to assess and treat a wide variety of conditions, Dr. Jackson’s primary clinical focus includes, digestive health, environmental sensitivities and allergy, hormone optimization, mental and emotional health and auto-immune conditions.

Dr. Jackson is also available to see acute walk-in cases, such as upper respiratory infections, digestive complaints, UTI’s, minor injuries, etc, but will refer to Urgent Care in the case of a true medical emergency.
