Multiple Lane Closures Planned as DOT Roadwork Continues on Maui

The state Department of Transportation has multiple lane closures planned on Maui next week as it continues its schedule of road work on the island.

The lane closure schedule is for the period beginning on Saturday, March 26 through Friday, April 1, 2016. All projects are weather permitting and include the following:

Old Haleakalā Highway

• Kahului (Weekend/Night Work): 24-hour lane shifts on Old Haleakalā Highway in both directions between Aʻalele Street and Kala Road on Friday, March 25, through Friday, April 1, for roadway construction. Motorists are advised to follow all traffic control signs and drive with caution through the work zone. Flaggers will be stationed at the site to direct motorists through the area.
• Kula (Weekend/Night Work): 24/7 lane closures on Old Haleakalā Highway in both directions at the intersection of Kula Highway (Route 37) on Friday, March 25, through Friday, April 1, for sidewalk improvement work.

Hāna Highway:

Haiku (Weekend/Night Work): Left lane closure on Hana Highway in the eastbound direction between the Garden of Eden Arboretum and Keʻanae Road on Friday, March 25, through Friday, April 1, over a 24-hour period for roadway improvements.

Honoapiʻilani Highway:

• Kāʻanapali: Right lane closure on Honoapiʻilani Highway in the northbound direction between Kāʻanapali Parkway and Kualapa Loop on Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily, for resurfacing work and utility repairs.
• Wailuku: Right turn pockets closed on Honoapiʻilani Highway in both directions at the Kuikahi Drive Intersection on Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily, for road repairs and utility installations.
• Wailuku:  Lane closures on Honoapiʻilani Highway in both directions between Kuikahi Drive and Kehalani Makai Parkway on Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily, for road repairs and utility installations.

Kuihelani Highway:

• Kahului (Night Work): Left lane closure on Kuihelani Highway in the northbound direction between Honoapiʻilani Highway and Puʻunēnē Avenue in the vicinity of Maui Lani Parkway on Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, over a 24-hour period for paving work.

Kaʻahumanu Avenue:

• Kahului: Alternating lane closure on Kaʻahumanu Avenue in both directions between Kahului Beach Road and Hobron Avenue on Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for pavement marking and sign installations.
• Wailuku:  Alternating lane closure on Kaʻahumanu Avenue in both directions between Aku Place and Lunalilo Street on Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for roadside maintenance.
• Wailuku:  Alternating lane closure on Kaʻahumanu Avenue in both directions between Mahalani Street and Maui Lani Parkway on Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for roadside maintenance.

Kuikahi Drive:

• Wailuku: Right turn pockets closed on Kuikahi Drive in both directions at the Honoapiʻilani Highway Intersection on Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily, for road repairs and underground utility repairs.
