The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset invites the public to learn more about the West Maui Greenway on Tuesday, April 5, at a talk by Maui Bicycling League Co-founder Lee Chamberlain.

Chamberlain, a partner in the project, will discuss the proposed shared-use path/trail that the group envisions as a continuous 25-mile greenway along Maui’s western shore.

Chamberlain is the owner of Ride Smart Maui, a green business focused on electric bicycle sales, rentals and tours.

Following the establishment of the company, he discovered that although Maui’s climate, terrain, and scenery make it one of the world’s best places to ride bicycles, the island’s road and trail system is not safe and friendly for riders.

He subsequently began a campaign for change, forming the Maui Bicycle League with his partner, Saman Dias. He is passionate about transforming Maui into a more livable community, where residents can commute to work, socialize and recreate by foot and bicycle.

The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset’s community speaker series takes place during club meetings, which are held on the first, third and fifth Tuesday of the month at the Royal Lahaina Resort, Kā‘anapali, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
