Cable Fault Knocks Out Power to 1,000 Wailea Customers

Update: 5:22 p.m. 8.23.16

About 1,000 customers in the Wailea area experienced a power outage around 1:48 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, due to a cable fault. Power was restored to all customers by 3:50 p.m. when response crews transferred customers to alternate feeders. Maui Electric representatives say the cause of the cable fault is under investigation.
