Update No. 3 on Hurricanes Madeline and Lester
Issued Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016 – 4:30 p.m.

As Hurricanes Madeline and Lester approach the Hawaiian Islands, Young Brothers will be determining their impact upon company sailings to and from the neighbor islands with the most recent forecasts available and with guidance and direction from the United States Coast Guard and the State Department of Transportation. Young Brothers will be issuing updates on operations for each port of call as they may be affected by the storm.

Schedule changes include the following:

Tuesday, August 30, 2016 Scheduled Sailings:

The U.S. Coast Guard has determined that it will close the Ports of Hilo and Kawaihae as of Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. All other Young Brothers port operations and sailings are subject to change based on weather conditions and directions given to us by the USCG, the Captain of each Port, as well as the State Department of Transportation.

• Honolulu to Hilo : Canceled. With the projected tracks and impacts of both Hurricane Madeline and Hurricane Lester and the closure of the Port of Hilo, the Tuesday Hilo sailing was canceled. Sailings will not recommence until both hurricanes have safely passed the island and the USCG Captain of the Port has reopened the port. No cargo will be accepted in Honolulu for the Port of Hilo until further notice.

• Honolulu to Kaunakakai (Moloka`i): Canceled. The Tuesday sailing to Kaunakakai was canceled based on the USCG Captain of the Port’s determination to close the harbor to incoming traffic by 2 p.m. Sailings will not recommence until both hurricanes have safely passed the island. No cargo will be accepted in Honolulu for the Port of Kaunakakai until further notice.

• Honolulu to Kaumalapau (Lāna`i ): Canceled and Replaced with Monday Sailing. The regularly scheduled Tuesday sailing to Lāna`i was canceled and this sailing was replaced with a sailing departing from Honolulu on Monday and arriving in Lāna`i today, Tuesday, August 30, 2016, with the Port of Kaumalapau being open on Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No cargo will be accepted in Honolulu for the Port of Kaumalapau until further notice.

Wednesday, August 31, 2016 Scheduled Sailings:

• Honolulu to Kahului: Sailing Tentatively Scheduled to Depart with Limited Cargo (Subject to Change) With the latest information from the USCG, Young Brothers will plan to sail to Kahului on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. The Wednesday Honolulu to Kahului sailing will be limited to straight load dry and reefer containers only – no hazardous containers. Straight load containers with Wednesday reservations will be accepted. No new or additional reservations will be taken at this time. No other cargo will be accepted in Honolulu, including palletized or mixed cargo, automobiles or roll-on/roll-off equipment. These restrictions are necessary to load and unload our barge in a safe and timely fashion ahead of the hurricane.

Thursday, September 1, 2016 Scheduled Sailings:

• Honolulu to Kahului: Pending. A decision on whether to proceed with the Thursday Honolulu to Kahului sailing is pending. No cargo will be accepted in Honolulu for the Thursday Kahului sailing until after the next updated forecast and receipt of direction and guidance from the U.S. Coast Guard and the State Department of Transportation.

• Honolulu to Nawiliwili: Sailing Tentatively Scheduled to Depart with Limited. Cargo (subject to change) Cargo will be accepted for the Thursday Honolulu to Nawiliwili sailing will be limited to straight load dry and reefer containers only – no hazardous containers. No other cargo will be accepted in Honolulu including palletized or mixed cargo, automobiles or roll-on/roll-off equipment.

• Honolulu to Kawaihae: Pending

The USCG will close the Port of Kawaihae as of Tuesday, 8:00 p.m. No cargo will be accepted in Honolulu for the Port of Kawaihae until further notice. Sailings will not recommence until both hurricanes have safely passed the island and the USCG Captain of the Port has reopened the port.

In addition, no livestock shipments and any hazardous cargo will be accepted at all ports until further notice. Sailing Schedule for Remainder of the Week. We will be providing further updates beginning tomorrow as we receive updated weather forecasts. Updated information on Hurricane Madeline and Hurricane Lester will be sent via e-mail and posted on our website.
