Kokua 4 Kokonuts features a walk through Queen Kaʻahumanu Center in Kahului. Event organizers say businesses and organizations are encouraged to create teams, collect pledges and walk together.
The event is appropriate for all ages and skill levels, and strollers and walking aids are welcome.
Energizing entertainment, keiki activities, a visit from Hello Kitty is scheduled as part of the event.
Walkers receive an official event t-shirt and entry to win prizes with a minimum $35 registration fee ($10 for keiki 12 and under).
“Join us in saving lives and make a real impact in the fight against breast cancer in our community. All funds raised stay right here in Maui County for those in need – our mothers, sisters, aunties, daughters and friends,” said Toni Rojas, Queen Ka’ahumanu Center Marketing Director.
“Approximately 1 in 8 US women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Since 2005, the Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation has helped nearly 700 Maui County women in need to receive mammograms and ultrasounds at a cost of over $232,000,” said Rojas.
Registration forms available at mauihospitalfoundation.org, queenkaahumanucenter.com or at the Queen Kaʻahumanu Center Guest Services desk.
Community non-profit organizations that offer cancer related services are welcome to participate by providing an educational booth. Contact Marina Satoafaiga, Queen Ka’ahumanu Center Event Coordinator at [email protected] or call (808) 856-8109 for booth guidelines and information.
