Today’s regular Maui County Council meeting will start at 1:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber on the 8th Floor of the County Building as planned, Council Chair Mike White announced today.

White said he and staff have been closely monitoring the progressing of Hurricane Lester and consulting with emergency-management officials. Based on current forecasts and advice, it appears safe for the council to conduct its regularly scheduled business this afternoon, White said.

The council has been advised executive-branch agencies will close at noon. Most floors of the County Building will be inaccessible. Members of the public will have to enter the County Building only on the 1st Floor to gain access to the elevator and reach the 8th Floor.
