Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa announced the creation of a task force to explore the best use or disposal of the 50 County-owned lots at the Fairways at Maui Lani. The lots were acquired through a settlement in August of 2011.

Mayor Arakawa appointed Council Member G. Riki Hokama as Chair of “The Task Force of the Fairways at Maui Lani.” Other members include: Sandy Baz (Vice Chair); David Goode; Carol Reimann; and Jo-Ann Ridao.

The task force will be staffed by the Department of Finance, and will explore the best possible options for disposing of these properties. It also will make recommendations to the administration on how to proceed.

“In a cooperative effort, representatives from the administration and the council are investigating options regarding the most beneficial use of the lots that Maui County owns in Maui Lani,” said Hokama. “I’m honored to chair this group that Mayor Arakawa has put together, and look forward to productive results stemming from our collaborative efforts.”
