Maui’s Glick Design Earns Five 2016 American Graphic Design Awards
Glick Design of Kahului, Maui just received recognition from the American Graphic Design Awards competition conducted in New York City. The firm earned five 2016 American Graphic Design Awards, spanning the print collateral, print advertising, website and signage design categories.
The AGDA competition has emerged as one of the most comprehensive of all graphic communication awards in North America. It honors outstanding work of all kinds across all media including: internet and interactive design, print and collateral, advertising and sales promotion, packaging and point-of-purchase, broadcast and motion graphics, corporate identity and logos.
Glick’s design work was done for clients Whalers Realty, Inc., Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa; and also for Glick Design’s own marketing outreach.
The first of two winning designs for client Whalers Realty was in the print collateral category and is a direct mail marketing piece for a luxury real estate property, Ali‘i Emerald Estate. It presents a layout comprised of stunning photography and minimal text. The second design, this one in the print advertising category, was a full page print ad for the Ohia Ridge project in Ka‘anapali that features an architectural illustration and on-site photography.
The winning design in the Signage and Environmental Graphics category was for an identification sign at Kamaha‘o Spa at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa. The 50” x 40” x 12” monument sign has a classic design, with a gently arched top plate and a design of repetitive cladding on its facade. A Corian inset plaque showcases the facility’s logo on a bright red color field.
In the print collateral category, Glick Design’s own Capability Brochure was selected. The cover artwork is comprised of a design grid with 25 inset photos representing various past projects and Maui scenics.
In the website design category, Glick’s 140-page site, www.glickdesign.com earned top recognition.
Robert Glick created the graphic design and graphic production for all five projects.
The AGDA judges, a panel of nationally-prominent design professionals, reviewed nearly 10,000 entries from thousands of US-based graphic design firms, advertising agencies, corporate in-house creative departments and publishers during the selection process.
The 2016 Graphic Design USA Annual will be published in December and will be mailed to more than 30,000 corporate clients, publishers, ad agencies and graphic design firms and distributed nationally at trade shows and design events with a total readership of over 50,000 across the US and Canada.
