Blessing of New Vessel – Expeditions Six

Expeditions, known for its ferry service between Maui and Lānaʻi, celebrated the addition of a new vessel to its fleet over the weekend.

A blessing for the Expedition Six was held on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 at Mānele Small Boat Harbor on Lānaʻi.

Company executives say the vessel offers a roomy and smoother ride, and will cater future trips for local residents and visitors alike between the islands of Maui and Lānaʻi.

Company president Bill Caldwell said that over the past year, the vessel has been under construction in Washington State.

The new Expedition Six has a carrying capacity of 149 passengers. That’s four times the capacity of the company’s first 38-foot mono-hull vessel that began transporting passengers to and from Lānaʻi in 1989.

Expeditions has been offering ferry service for 27 years and also offers “Explore Lānaʻi” packages which include jeep rentals and guided tours.
