Eric Church & Friends will be an acoustic performance filled with songs and stories similar to shows with capacity crowds at Colorado’s famed Red Rocks Amphitheater and Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater. The Eric Church & Friends concert at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s A&B Amphitheater/Yokouchi Pavilion will be their only appearance in Hawaiʻi.

Eric Church is a two-time Country Music Association and five-time Academy of Country Music Award winner.

His most recent album, Mr. Misunderstood, was released last November. Called “a love letter to his influences” by The New York Times and “the best album of his career” by The Guardian, Mr. Misunderstood made year-end “best-of” lists from Rolling Stone, The Washington Post, Entertainment Weekly, and more.

The video for the title track has won the ACM Video of the Year. About the title track and first single, Rolling Stone wrote, “it shows just why the Chief is indeed leading a new charge in the country landscape” and that “it stands as the vital beginning of a brilliant story.”

Church finished the previous year as country music’s top-selling artist, with 2014’s highest debut and sales of any release in the format as the critical and commercial success The Outsiders reached Platinum status, marking more than one million albums sold. Debuting at No. 1 on both the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart and Top Country Albums chart, “The Outsiders” garnered GRAMMY, CMA and ACM Album of the Year nominations and featured his No.1 hits “Give Me Back My Hometown” and “Talladega.”

Prior to that project, Church’s Platinum-certified CHIEF was named the CMA 2012 Album of the Year, and ACM and GRAMMY-nominations for Best Country Album. The LP featured five Top 20 singles: “Homeboy” (certified Platinum for sales in excess of 1 million); the Top 10 “Like Jesus Does” and the Top 5 “Creepin’” (both certified Gold for sales in excess of 500,000); and two No. 1 hits “Drink in My Hand” (certified Platinum) and “Springsteen” (certified Double Platinum for sales in excess of 2 million singles). Church’s 2006 debut album, Sinners Like Me (2006) and his sophomore album Carolina (2009) are both RIAA Gold-certified.
