Oregon Visitor Dies on Maui, Assisted to Shore at Waipuilani

A visitor died after experiencing difficulty while snorkeling in waters outside of Waipuilani Park in Kīhei at around 10:05 a.m. this morning, Monday, Nov. 14, 2016.

Maui police say Phillip Green, 61, of Dallas, Oregon called for help and was assisted to shore by his son and a bystander.

Once on shore, emergency crews performed life-saving measures, but were unable to resuscitate the man.

Police say Green was being transported by medics to the hospital when he was pronounced dead.

The incident has been classified as a Fatal Miscellaneous Accident.
