If you’re looking to craft some new appetizers as the holidays approach, Chef Lee Anderson of Sugar Beach Events will host an evening on the topic, Friday, Dec. 2 as part of her Tutorial Series.

Although it’s easy to use the same old appetizer recipes when hosting a party, after this class you’ll come away with new ideas, new flavors and even new ways of presenting appetizers.

Participants will learn how to make several appetizers in a round-robin station class, as well as leave with some great ideas on how to display the food in an inviting way.

In this class, you will learn how to prepare:

Wild mushroom and smoked chèvre crostini
Caprese sliders
Crab salad on endive
Guava glazed meatballs
Bacon wrapped scallops
Marinated lamb chops with mint-basil pesto
Artichoke tarragon dip with crackers and crostini
Brie en croute
Pesto grilled bruschetta with fresh fig, mascarpone and apple slices
Butternut squash soup shooter, cinnamon sugar croutons
Phyllo triangles, bacon jam, brandied cherry
Crispy roasted boneless chicken thigh – sliced over spoon corn bread with pan juice gravy (small plate)
BLT sliders
Gourmet cheese display
Hummus and crudité display
Special drink: Inventive holiday punch

Join Chef Lee at Sugar Beach Events in Kīhei from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and expand your mind and recipe book alongside the chef, working in a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen and learning some tricks of the trade from one of Maui’s best teaching chefs.

Sugar Beach Events will provide all the kitchen equipment and supplies.

Reservations are required and tickets are $95 a person.

One drink is included and a cash bar is available for additional alcoholic beverages. Attendees must be 21 or older to attend.

Sugar Beach Events would like to remind participants that they will be working in a commercial kitchen with knives and to wear close-toed shoes.
