Expeditions, known for its ferry service between Maui and Lānaʻi, launched service aboard its newest vessel today, the Expedition Six.

The vessel was added to the fleet last month with a blessing event, and going forward, will transport passengers between Maui and the Mānele Small Boat Harbor on Lānaʻi.

The new vessel has a carrying capacity of 149 passengers. That’s four times the capacity of the company’s first 38-foot mono-hull vessel that began transporting passengers to and from Lānaʻi in 1989.

Company executives say the vessel offers a roomy and smoother ride, and will cater future trips for local residents and visitors alike.

Expeditions has been offering ferry service for 27 years and also offers “Explore Lānaʻi” packages which include jeep rentals and guided tours.
