Maui’s Albee Layer recently made an appearance at the Surf Shed in San Diego, for Surfer Magazine’s “Shed Session” series.

The Surf Shed is home to about 900 boards that have history woven into the fiberglass and embedded into the wax.

Owner Eric “Bird” Huffman curated this collection of boards, from short boards, to guns, to logs and fishes—some even date back to the 1920s.

Albee took two boards for a spin, one being Bird’s favorite fish of all time, and the other being Chandler’s gun from the classic movie, North Shore.

Watch him ride a couple pieces of history that haven’t been waxed up in years.
