Honorina Tuiolelago Ahia
April 3, 1939 – February 23, 2017

Rini loved all of her grandkids, and was known as “Tutu”. She gave her time and talents by starting the hula ministry in Kings Chapel in Lahaina and was loved by all in her Congregation. She performed the hula internationally, loved her family and was a great leader. Another passion was floral design and decorating.

Visitation will be held at Ballard Family Mortuary in Kahului on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. with service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at King’s Cathedral in Lahaina from 9 a.m. to noon with service at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow.

Honorina is survived by her husband, Samuel Ahia; son, Howard (Katrina) Ahia; daughter, Lisa (Gary) Gazaway; brother, Benjamin Shafer; sisters, Violet Dilauro, Dianne To’omalata’I, Gail Cahill, 4 grandsons, Samuel Kerckhoff, Jonathan Ahia, Christopher Ahia, Jordon Talbot; granddaughters, Angeligue Ahia, Catherine Ahia, Ella Ahia, Lindsey Gazaway, Lily Ahia, Jasmine Ahia, Violet Ahia; and two great grandsons, Levi Ahia-Recinos and Nathaniel Gross, one great granddaughter, Kaimi Beatty. She is predeceased by her son, Conrad Ahia and daughter, Sina Ahia.

Hilda Kathleen Decker, 90, of Waimea, Hawaiʻi, was born in Indiana on Aug. 22, 1926, and passed away on Feb. 21, 2017 in Honokaʻa, Hawaiʻi due to alzheimers. Hilda worked as a Sunday school teacher and a home maker. She used to say “I don’t have a bad memory, I have a good forgetter.”

She is survived by sons Johnny (Marilyn) Decker of Stratham, New Hampshire; Robert (Pam) Decker of Kamuela, Hawaiʻi; daughter Nancy (Michael) Douherty of Walnut Creek, California; sister Rosalee Rogers of Santa Rosa, California; and five grandchildren.

Private services will be held.

Herman Joseph Calasa Sr.

Herman Joseph Calasa Sr.
December 4, 1933 – February 18, 2017

Herman Joseph Calasa Sr., 83, of Haʻikū, passed away on Feb. 18, 2017 in Kahului surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Dec. 4, 1933 in Sprecklesville, Maui.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., and burial will follow at noon at Valley Isle Memorial Park.

Herman was the owner/operator of Herman‘s Repairs Auto Wrecking & Towing.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline Calasa; sons, Herman J. (RoseMary) Calasa Jr., Earl M. (Gigi) Calasa, Rodney J. (Sandy) Calasa Sr.; sister, Annette Peters; nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Denice R. Pakele
February 20, 1972 – February 17, 2017

Denice R. Pakele, 44 of Haiku, Maui passed away on Feb. 17, 2017 at her residence under the care of her loving family and Maui Hospice. She was born on Feb. 20, 1972 in Honolulu.

Denice is survived by her children, Alan Mata Jr., Kupono Pakele, Keanu Pakele, Tiana-lynne Mata; brother, Charles (Jessica) Aina; sisters, Nicole Feliciano and Amber Werner; four grandchildren, Nainoa Mata, Alealani Mata, Lawaia Mata, and Mystik Mata.

Moses K. Kauhaahaa Jr.
November 16, 1931 – February 16, 2017

Moses K. Kauhaahaa Jr., 85 of Kahakuloa, Maui passed away on Feb. 16, 2017 at his residence under the care of his loving family and Islands Hospice. He was born on Nov. 16, 1931 in Honolulu.

Moses retired from Maui Electric Company.

Visitations will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Ballard Family Mortuary Kahului from 9 to 11 a.m.; with service to begin at 11 a.m.; and cremation to follow.

Moses is survived by his companion, Lourdes Baylosis; sons, Rodney (Lani) Kauhaahaa, Moses (Noe) Kauhaahaa III, Chad (Lena) Kauhaahaa; daughter, Mokihana Kauhaahaa; brothers, Henry Kauhaahaa, Wayne Pellegrino; sisters, Kuulei (Manuel) Freitas, Hannah (deceased Pomai) Puailihau, Rita Moon; 23 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren

Elsie Asako Ige

Elsie Asako Ige
July 1, 1925 – February 12, 2017

Elsie Asako Ige, 91, of Wailuku, passed away on Feb. 12, 2017 at Maui Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 1, 1925 in Wailuku.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Ballard Family Mortuary, service will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Burial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Maui Memorial Park in Wailuku.

She is survived by her children, Edwin (Joanna) Ige, Jr., Jo-Ann (Jeffrey) Kunishige, and Asa Ige; 6 grandchildren, Ikaika, Billie-Jo, Tracee, Ty, Samantha, and Bridgette; 11 great-grandchildren, Kawaiola, Sharai, Cody, Shaylee, Shya, Kanehe, Kawelo, Diesel, Hailani, Gauge, and Rhylee; and five great-grand-grandchildren, Kolten, Kaiana, Kysen, Pua’Olena, and Easton.

Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Ige Sr., and her grandson, Edwin Ige III.
