The Realtors Association of Maui raised more than $21,000 for two beneficiaries—RAM’s Presidential Scholarship Fund and Maui OnStage during its “RAM’s Got Talent” fundraiser last month.

The evening included a surprise announcement from Castle & Cooke Mortgage, LLC, who donated an additional $3,000 to the Realtors Association of Maui Presidential Scholarship Fund this year.

Marion Haller, who chaired the RAM’s Got Talent planning committee said, “It was a wonderful moment when we learned of their generosity and the audience responded with resounding applause. Maui’s students are going to be very happy with this additional support from Castle & Cooke Mortgage.”

Since it began in 1989, RAM’s Presidential Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $560,000 to high school seniors across Maui County, as well as past recipients of the scholarship.

Funds for the scholarship program are raised through events like RAM’s Presidential Scholarship Golf Event, RAM’s Installation Luncheon and the “RAM’s Got Talent” competition.

Maui OnStage, the second beneficiary of “RAM’s Got Talent,” is a community-based theatrical organization that has occupied the Historic Iao Theater since 1984 and has been recognized as one of the longest-running theater companies in the U.S.

“RAM’s Presidential Scholarship Fund has truly made a difference in the lives of many Maui County students,” said RAM President Marilyn Griffin. “It is one of the most heartwarming ways we give back to our community. This program has offered many students an opportunity they would not otherwise have in their pursuit of higher education.”

The $3,000 check was presented to RAM by Castle & Cooke Mortgage Branch Manager Ray Beltran. He and his wife, Kara, a loan officer with Castle & Cooke Mortgage, are involved with the local real estate community and in community service, volunteering their time to chair local industry committees and organizations.
