Vehicle Crashes into Lahaina’s Pāʻia Fish Market

Emergency crews responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed into the side of Lahaina’s Pāʻia Fish Market on Front Street over the weekend.

The incident was reported at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2017.

Maui Police Lt. Gregg Okamoto tells Maui Now that a 67-year old female was trying to park her vehicle in a marked stall in an alley next to the restaurant at 632 Front Street in Lahaina.

The woman backed into a parked car, then while moving forward, she accidentally accelerated into the restaurant, Lt. Okamoto said.

A window and portion of a wall was damaged in the incident, but there were no immediate estimates on damages sustained.

No one was injured as there were no customers seated in the section of the restaurant that was damaged at the time.

Police say they observed no impairment by the driver observed at the time.  The driver was not injured in the incident.
