Denver Woman Airlifted from Bamboo Forest Trail on Maui
A female visitor was airlifted from the Bamboo Forest Trail in the Kailua area of East Maui after suffering an injury during a hike on Wednesday afternoon.
Pāʻia firefighters received the call at 5:04 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, indicating that the woman was unable to walk after she slipped on wet rocks and injured her ankle near the third waterfall on the Bamboo Forest Trail.

Rescue personnel were lowered in by rope to treat and stabilize the woman’s injuries.
The 29-year-old female visitor from Denver, Colorado was airlifted to a pasture near the Hāna Highway and transferred to paramedics at 6:15 p.m. The woman was taken by ambulance to Maui Memorial Medical Center for further treatment.
