“Mālama ʻĀina – Celebrating Earth Day,” is the theme of the Makawao Third Friday town party, happening April 21, from 6 to 9 p.m.

ʻĀina means to care for and nurture the land so it can give back all we need to sustain life for ourselves and our future generations.

LIVE MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT

  • Remix will be on the main stage next to Rodeo General Store, mixing it up with Funk, Latin Grooves, Hip-Hop, Reggae Roots and Rock.
  • Pat Simmons Jr., Maui-grown musician/environmental activist/storyteller, will be playing Hawaiian style folk & original acoustic surf-rock with messages of Aloha ʻĀina, in the Maui Hands lot across from Casanova’s.
  • Magician Brenton Keith & His Bag O’ Tricks will be wowing the crowd with his entertaining street performance at the top of Baldwin Avenue.
  • Pearl Rose, entertainer and performer will be playing on the front porch of the Antique Boutique, located just down lower Baldwin Avenue.
  • The Pacific Talent Search Agency, Maui’s County’s premiere Musical Talent Competition for children ages 13-19 years old will be in the Komoda parking lot (music acts only).

The keiki zone will feature Melissa Buck of Rainbow Chameleon Art and her one-of-a-kind creative face painting, plus Crystalline with her fantastic balloon creations, who will share their art and charm with the keiki and there will be hula hooping activities for everybody.

The upcountry classic cars will be displayed by Makawao Steak House and Sip Me on Baldwin Ave.

SILENT AUCTIONS AND STORE SPECIALS

  • Join Fleur De Lei, Eco Boutique with free refreshments, and enjoy discounts on eco-friendly clothing, accessories and gifts. They are offering a wooden watch in the silent auction.
  • Sherri Reeve Gallery & Gifts will offer a silent auction item, proceeds going to support M3F. Hospice Maui Donations are also welcome at the gallery.
  • Antique Boutique is celebrating Earth Day by offering discounts on antique and vintage jewelry and unique antique wooden boxes.
  • In keeping a local tradition since 1926 of spreading the word of new ohana, Makawao welcomes our newest merchant members, Keani Hawaiian Jewelers and Maui Mana Smoke Shop. Stop by a give them a howdy.

Guests can enjoy dinner at one of the many award winning Makawao Restaurants or enjoy the pop up food court along Baldwin Avenue amidst our other abundant vendor offerings.

This is a rain or shine free community event and a road-closure Block Party from 5:15-9:30 p.m.

Free parking will be available at Makawao Base Yard (across from St. Joseph’s Church), two parking lots on Brewer Rd. and Makawao Municipal Parking Lot on Makawao Ave near the Library.
