A 45-year-old California woman was transported to the hospital in stable condition after being found unresponsive in a swimming pool at the Hyatt Residence Club in Kā‘anapali on Saturday afternoon, April 29, 2017.

Maui firefighters responded to the incident at 2:42 p.m. When Lahaina firefighters arrived on scene at 2:48 p.m., they found the woman sitting up and breathing on her own. Paramedics treated and transported her to Maui Memorial Medical Center in stable condition.

Maui Fire Services Chief Edward Taomoto said the woman was swimming in the pool with a female friend, when the friend noticed the victim was face-down underwater and not moving.
