Members of the club will discuss the club’s community service projects, including the monthly Third Saturday Recycling program at Lahaina Cannery Mall which is entering its third year.

The friend-raiser will have complimentary pupus and a no-host bar with happy hour drink prices until 6 p.m.

The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset is beginning its fourth year of service to the West Maui community and was named Rotary’s Small Club of the Year in the Hawaiian Islands for the past two years.

“We’re proud of our service to this community,” said Mariko Higashi, co-president-elect of the Lahaina Sunset Rotary Club. “And there is so much more we want to do. Our goal with this Friend-Raiser is to meet some new friends, folks who may be willing to join us in tackling big things here in West Maui.”

The club has been active in other West Maui environmental programs over the years such as community and beach cleanups and in projects to benefit West Maui elementary and high school students, the Maui Food Bank, Women Helping Women, and the homeless in West Maui.

“We know that Maui residents are looking for ways to give back to this community,” said club President Joanne Laird. “Rotary provides the perfect avenue to do this. In Rotary we believe many hands make light work. As Rotarians, we gladly volunteer our time, and we always get back more than we give,” said Laird.
