This year’s lineup includes some of Hawai‘i’s best slack key guitar players who will perform a full afternoon of Hawaiian music during the free event.

Kī Hō‘alu translates to “loosen the key,” indicating the tuning in slack key guitar and is a musical tradition dating back to 19th century paniolo who played around the campfire after completing a day of ranch work.

Artists performing at this year’s festival include Makana, Kevin & Ikaika Brown, Stephen Inglis, Blayne Asing, Aja Gample, Ho‘okena, George Kuo, George Kahumoku & Friends, Brother Noland, Paul Togioka, Ian O’Sullivan, Kamuela Kahoano, Danny Carvalho, Donald Kaulia, Dwight Kanae and Wayne Johnson.

Slack key has become known as one of the great acoustic guitar methods, especially since the Grammy Awards recognized Hawaiian music as a category all its own.

There will be lawn seating provided but festival-goers are encouraged to bring their own beach chairs, blankets or mats. The event will also have door prizes available.

Food and beverages will be available provided by Three’s Bar and Grill, Shaka Pops, Maui Cones, Outrigger Pizza, Grandpa Joe’s Candy Co. and Fork and Salad. To view the menu, click here.
