2017 Maui Jim Maui Invitational Ticket Packages on Sale, Aug. 15

Ticket packages for the 2017 Maui Jim Maui Invitational, which will be held Nov. 20-22 at the Lahaina Civic Center, will go on sale to the public on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 9 a.m. HST (3 p.m. ET).

“There are too many things on my list of why you should come to Maui for the Tournament,” said ESPN college analyst Jay Bilas. “It’s the best tournament in basketball. The setting is unbelievable and the competition is off the charts. The setting makes it as intimate as any high school gym you could be in. To be able to watch championship-level basketball in that setting and then walk outside to stare at the Pacific Ocean, it’s unmatched.”

Booster ticket packages allow fans to take in all three Tournament games for a specific school. Booster tickets, along with All-Tournament reserved tickets, which grant access to all 12 games at the Lahaina Civic Center, will be available for purchase next week.

The 2017 field features Cal, LSU, Marquette, Michigan, Notre Dame, VCU, Wichita State and host Chaminade. These teams have combined for 234 all-time postseason appearances. Over the last seven seasons, Michigan, VCU and Wichita State have appeared in the Final Four, and along with Notre Dame, rank among the nation’s winningest programs. The Shockers are fourth with 208 victories, behind blue-blood programs Kansas, Kentucky and Gonzaga. The Rams (187) are 12th, ranked ahead of the likes of Villanova, Michigan State and Syracuse. The Irish are 24th (171), while Michigan ranks 28th (169).

Additional highlights of the 2017 Maui Jim Maui Invitational include:

• Wichita State is a projected to be ranked among the top-five nationally, while Notre Dame is a top-15 team entering the season
• Marquette’s Steve Wojciechowski has won the Maui Tournament title each time his teams have played in the event.  Duke player in 1997 (also won Tournament MVP).  Duke assistant coach in 2001, 2007 (defeated Marquette in the Tournament final) and 2011
• LSU’s Will Wade coached two seasons at VCU and was an assistant coach with the Rams alongside new coach Mike Rhoades under Shaka Smart
• Chaminade’s Eric Bovaird grew up a Notre Dame fan and will take on the Irish in the opening round on Nov. 20.  Notre Dame and Chaminade have faced off once before, a 94-78 Notre Dame victory in 1993
• This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Silverswords historic upset of then-No. 1 Virginia on Dec. 23, 1982, the game the led to the inspiration for the annual Tournament
