Maui Preparatory Academy in Napili on the northwestern tip of the island, is positioning itself as a training academy for athletes who want to push themselves in the water and sharpen their life skills in the classroom.
The Hawaiian Islands are the birthplace and epicenter of ocean sports.
Whether it’s windsurfing, kitesurfing, big wave surfing, sailing, shortboarding, paddling, hydrofoiling or outrigger canoe paddling, Maui Nei may be the best place on the planet for athletes to push their limits.
Embracing its idyllic location, Maui Prep’s high school students, directed, filmed, produced and edited a mini-surf film featuring the school’s students.
The ambitious 13-year-old preschool to grade 12 secular, private school has already educated a number of elite watermen, including Zane Schweitzer, Noah Hill, Dante Silva, Assad Harakat, Slater Trout and more.
Surfers from China, Germany, Italy, Moloka’i, Senegal, Morocco and the Mainland USA have joined the school’s boarding program to have the opportunity to challenge themselves in West Maui’s world-class surf.
They join the day students who live here—some of the best surfing talent in the state.
Last year in the Maui Interscholastic League, the only league in the country to sanction and support scholastic surfing, the Maui Prep girls team took the championship and the boys earned second place in Maui County.
This was done in part with a grant provided by the Hawaii Schools Digital Media Grant. Enjoy the video, and if you know someone who wants to train and study at the world’s best surf boarding school, check out Maui Preparatory Academy!
