Maui Conservation Program Accepting Internship Applications

Applications are now being accepted for Nā Hua Hoʻohuli i ka Pono, an internship program specifically designed to help develop Maui’s next generation of conservation leaders.

Host agencies for the fall 2018 program are the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife, Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project, Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary and The Nature Conservancy.

Five positions are available for college-level students who have an interest in integrating conservation as part of the foundation for a future career, in any field they may be pursuing. 

Applicants will be selected through a competitive process which includes a formal application, criminal history check and interview. Interns will earn a bi-weekly living allowance of $475.00 and have the potential to earn a bonus of $1,250.00.

Interested candidates must be available for 19 hours a week from Oct. 1, 2018 to Dec. 22, 2018. Students are responsible for their own transportation and housing accommodations. Completed applications and all required documents must be received by 8:00 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018.
