Burglary, Armed Robbery Investigations Underway for Makawao Incidents

Maui police are investigating reports of a home burglary and an armed robbery of an individual in Makawao early Wednesday morning, July 11, 2018.

Police were called to a home off of Kokomo Road at around 1:40 a.m. for a report of a burglary in progress.

While en route, the caller reported hearing a man outside his residence who said he was the victim of an armed robbery and was looking for help.

The man said he had been approached by a vehicle with three male occupants while he was walking on the road.

One of the suspects allegedly brandished a chrome-looking handgun and demanded the man’s backpack, which contained contents valued at $300.

The suspect vehicle was identified as a silver Honda or Acura sedan.

An investigation into both crimes, the alleged robbery, and the burglary, are under investigation.
