Tickets are now on sale for the 13th Annual Kū Mai Ka Hula competition, which takes place on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 1:00 p.m. in the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s (MACC) Castle Theater. Presented by the MACC, this event is Maui’s only adult hula competition.

Kū Mai Ka Hula features award-winning hālau from the Hawaiian Islands and Japan competing in solo and group performances. Male and female dancers perform both kahiko (traditional) and ‘auana (modern) hula stylings. Attendees can expect to see hālau competing in a level of performance as in more well-known competitions.

Additionally, attendees can browse and shop displays of made-in-Hawai‘i products from an array of crafters and artisans before and throughout the Saturday performances. A full selection of food & beverages will be available for purchase in the Yokouchi Pavilion Courtyard. Pre-show entertainment will also take place in the Yokouchi Pavilion Courtyard  from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Tickets are $25 for adults and half price for kids 12 and under (plus applicable fees). MACC members receive a 10% discount. To purchase tickets, visit the MACC Box Office or call (808) 242-SHOW (7469) or go to MauiArts.org. The MACC Box Office is open Tues. through Sat., 10:00 a.m.to 6:00 p.m. for window and phone sales.
