Gas in Kahului and Wailuku is $4.17 today. That’s one cent higher than last week, three cents higher than last month, and more than 55 cents higher than at the same time last year.

Statewide, gas prices remained steady or increased just a penny in most areas according to the AAA Hawaiʻi Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average is $3.90 a gallon.

AAA Hawaiʻi general manager, Liane Sumida said local gas prices continue hovering near their highest levels in four years, but plunging worldwide oil prices could help bring them down in coming weeks, providing there are no supply issues.
